#TruStory Caught In The Act: I’d been seeing a guy on and off for about 3 years. Sometimes we were official and other times not, but for the most part it was a casual relationship. Well, after 3 years of the casual, we decide to make it official.
Everything seemed great for the first few months of being official. We went on dates, we spent most nights together, you know…typical things couples do.
About two weeks after that, I noticed he started acting different. It was like he was pulling away, which should’ve been a red flag but after so many years of on and off, to finally make it official and give up seemed stupid to me.
One night he wanted to go out alone, and I did the same. I was out with my girls but wasn’t feeling right so I decided to head home early. I knew my roommate was home so I figured I’d just hang with her for the night.
My roommate wasn’t expecting me home so early. I came through the door, ran into her room, was planning on jumping into bed until I realized she had a guy over. I screamed, she screamed, and before I could run out to leave I made eye contact with the guy – my guy – my boyfriend.
I ran out of the apartment. Long story short, I’m looking for a new place to live and a new boyfriend.
#TruStory Caught In The Act: My boyfriend and I have been together for almost 4 years now. We live together, we have a dog together, we’ve built a life together.
I started a new job about 3 months ago and I’ve been loving it. The people that work there are younger, mostly around my age, between 27-32. I met this one guy who works in accounting and we hit it off right away. We started grabbing lunch together, coffee dates, typical co-worker things. We flirted a bit but I never felt like I crossed the line and was open about my relationship the whole time.
One day while we were grabbing coffee, he asked if I’d ever want to grab dinner. I said yes right away without really thinking, “is this a date?” The more I thought about it, the more I realized I wasn’t comfortable telling my boyfriend about it. I know I should’ve cancelled the dinner but part of me was intrigued, it had been 4 years since I went on a date with another guy. I decided to go and I told my boyfriend I was going out with one of my girl friends, Julie.
Fast forward to the dinner, we had a great time and 2 bottles of wine. After dinner we had one more drink at the bar and decided to part ways. We went outside to hail a cab and he pulled me in and kissed me. It was one of those long kisses, that you lose yourself in.
I lost myself until I pulled away and my boyfriend was walking down the street with two of his friends. All my boyfriend said was, “Oh, hi Kate. Julie looks different.” I was frozen, I couldn’t move, I couldn’t speak and my coworker BOLTED in the opposite direction.
If you’re wondering where we stand now, we’re on a break but both trying to make it work and I’m looking for a new co-worker to have lunch with.
