Lip Problems and How to Fix Them
Healthy lips look and feel wonderful. When they experience chapping, bleeding, splitting, or cold sores, they no longer look as beautiful as they once did. Use the following tips to revitalize the beauty of your lips as quickly as possible.
Cold sores are caused by viral infections, so it is easy to catch them from someone else who has an active breakout. Try and avoid physical contact with these individuals whenever possible. Unfortunately, this is easier said than done, particularly when the person lives in your home. At the first sign of infection, take precautions to avoid spreading cold sores onto other areas of your lips. Use a disposable cotton applicator to apply lip products rather than applying it directly onto your lips.
As the body ages, its skin loses some of its elasticity due to the loss of collagen and elastin. As a result, the lips also experience a loss of elasticity, causing them to become more susceptible to dryness and bleeding. To minimize the damage, you should avoid activities that worsen the problem, including drinking alcohol and smoking. Cleanse your lips carefully and apply a moisturizing product to them until the bleeding no longer occurs.
Typically, splits occur because the lips have become too dry. This happens for a number of reasons, including exposure to brisk winds, not hydrating yourself properly, and sleeping in a room with extremely dry air. While you can use a lip balm to help moisturize your lips, you might also want to consider using a humidifier while sleeping, particularly if you believe the air in your home is dry.
Perhaps the most common problem experienced by people, chapping occurs when the lips become dry. Since this problem can occur during any season of the year, it is important to pay attention to circumstances that might trigger it, such as windy days, eating salty foods, being ill, and not drinking enough water.
If any of those circumstances are happening, just remember to treat your lips with a hydrating gel, balm, or cream to help protect them from dryness. Continue this treatment until your lips no longer look or feel dry.
When you notice a problem with your lips, it is important to address it right away to minimize the damage. In most cases, you’ll use the same strategies of keeping your lips clean and moisturizing them to remedy the situation. Once you do so, your lips should look and feel healthy once again.
