If you haven’t heard by now, Cynthia Nixon is running for Governor of New York State. She’s said it once, and we’ll say it again for her; she is so much more than an actress, an Emmy-winning actress at that.
Nixon is running against Andrew Cuomo in September’s Democratic primary, and her team includes Rebecca Katz and Bill Hyers. Both Katz and Hyers worked on Mayor Bill de Blasio’s campaign.
Now, Nixon will be doing her first television interview and it might not be the program you thought. Nixon will be appearing on the Wendy Williams Show, a show that typically avoids political conversation.
So why did Cynthia Nixon choose the Wendy Williams Show?
Rebecca Katz, Nixon’s spokesperso said. “We win by getting her in front of voters, because we actually want them to see the real Cynthia. And that’s what we get with Wendy. Her viewers are a large and crucial part of the electorate, and her show reaches all corners of the state.”
The Wendy Williams show gets over 2 million viewers a day and allows Nixon to directly target female voters, specifically black women.
