1. Be Patient Through the Patchiness- Popular wisdom says that shaving your beard daily will help it grow in more quickly and fully once you stop. There’s no scientific basis for this at all! Start from clean shaven so your beard will grow in relatively evenly, but once you’ve decided you’re growing a beard, don’t shave it, no matter how ugly or patchy it starts to look. Commit to a month of growth; after four weeks, you can really get a look at the status of your facial follicles.

2. Use Beard Oil- Beard oil not only keeps your beard moist and pleasantly fragrant once it’s grown, it helps promote growth during the early stages, keeping your skin healthy and fighting against itchiness. You’ll need some once your beard is grown, but there’s no reason not to buy it early and start applying it in your beard’s infancy.

3. Eat Lots of Protein- Your beard is primarily composed of keratin, an amino-acid protein that is derived from things we eat.
