As we learned earlier this month, Greys Anatomy stars Jessica Capshaw and Sarah Drew will not be returning after season 14. While this shocked many, it is now raising other questions such as; did Ellen Pompeo’s $20 million deal in late 2017 have anything to do with the two actresses leaving?
To answer that question, NO!
Pompeo recently appeared on the Ellen DeGeneres Show and cleared the air about these rumors saying, “It’s absolutely not true.”
While she couldn’t tell us the exact reason her two co-stars were leaving, she did give us some insight stating:
“I mean, I’m not involved in these kind of decisions; however, there’s a few problems that you encounter doing a show for 14 seasons. One of them is the writers have a really hard time creatively thinking up new stories for all these characters. I think we have 16 regular cast members, and I think it’s always sad when we lose people for whatever reason.”
She also went on to say, “Whether they want to go or don’t want to go, it doesn’t make it any easier.” Which is so true, because when we heard they were leaving, we were heartbroken. How will we go on without Kepner and Robbins?! I guess we should be used to this by now considering everyone we’ve lost on Grey’s over the 14 seasons.
But to set the record straight, don’t go blaming Pompeo for the departure of Drew and Capshaw.
